CEO-UAB has been granted with a project to assist the organising committee of the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2017 in the definition and implementation of the event legacy strategy.

Tarragona was chosen in 2011 as host city of the 2017 Mediterranean Games, a sports contest organized within the framework of the Olympic Movement, with the recognition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The event will be held from 30 June to 9 July in 16 municipalities and will include 36 sport disciplines. More than 4000 athletes from 24 nationalities will attend the event that will be covered by 1,000 journalists, supported by 3,500 volunteers and followed by more than 150,000.

The involvement of CEO-UAB in the event through this project is a great opportunity for the centre’s activity in field of event management and legacy. CEO-UAB has a wide experience researching on the impact and legacy of the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games and has recently been working together with the Barcelona Sports Institute in a project to manage the information and knowledge on the organisation and impact of sport events in the city of Barcelona.
