CEO-UAB was created for the purposes of research, documentation, training and dissemination of information on Olympism and sport and has promoted and participated as key partner in research, training and transfer projects with an international scope. - Consultancy. CEO-UAB team has provided consultancy services for sport and Olympic actors, such as the design of sport policy in the city of Barcelona; the academic strategy of the International Olympic Committee, or the contents design for the Olympic Museum Lausanne’s media exhibitions.
- PhD support. CEO-UAB provides a program to support PhD students undertaking post-graduate studies at the UAB in the field of Olympic studies, and particularly in the priority lines of research of the CEO-UAB. The program is open to all PhD students that have officially registered their research at a UAB department.
- Research stages. CEO-UAB offers researchers the chance to undertake research periods at the UAB through inter-university cooperation programmes or at an individual’s request.
- Networked activity. CEO-UAB has developed an important research network thought its activity. It has been partner institution in two European-funded Leonardo DaVinci projects, and in many international projects, in particular related to universities in Olympic host cities.
CEO-UAB has been promoter or collaborating partner in international postgraduate training activities. It coordinates the module on communication and commercialisation of the Olympic Games at the Master of Arts on Olympic Studies, and leads the MOOC course “The Olympic Games and the Media” in Coursera.
CEO-UAB has had an extensive programme of publications, including academic books, conference proceedings, research results and many other kinds of documents.
CEO-UAB manages the International Chair in Olympism (UAB-IOC) , a programme aimed to involve internationally renowned academic experts in social sciences and humanities by becoming visiting professors of the Chair) in order to contribute to the development of a line of research and to the scientific dissemination of a specific aspect of the Olympic phenomenon. CEO-UAB has become a key partner and manager of sport and Olympic information systems: Barcelona Sport Events Impact, Barcelona Olímpica, Catalan Observatory of Sport, Olympicstudies Net, IOC Olympic Values Educational Programme (OVEP) database.
